The Gardner Edgerton Blazers closed out another outstanding track and field season at the 2026 KSHSAA 6A State Championships, highlighted by two individual state champions, nine state medalists, and an eighth consecutive state meet with at least one Blazer standing atop the podium.
State Champs
Mason Hill, pole vault, 16-6
Coach McGee shared, “Mason concludes his career as a Blazer as a 2x League Champion, 3x Regional Champion, League Runner-up, 2x State Runner-up, and school record holder at 17-6.5" which stands as the second best vault in Kansas high school history. And now he completes it by becoming a State champ. Tremendous career by Mason Hill!”
Hayden Meats, triple jump, 38-5
Coach McGee shared, “Hayden concludes her career as a Blazer as a 3x State qualifier, 2x medalist, 2x League Runner-up, a Regional Champion, and a State champion. Her best jump of 39'0" stands as the 2nd best jump in school history. Hayden owns the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best jumps by a Blazer ever. 38-5 was Hayden's 2nd best jump of her career and she needed it, winning state by 1 inch. Wonderful career by Hayden Meats!”
