Before Jesse Owen was the two-time 6A state football champion coach of Gardner Edgerton with back to back 6A coach of the year honors from Sports in Kansas, he was a standout football player at Olathe North. Not just a standout though, he was the all classifications defensive player of the year in the state of Kansas for Gene Wier in 1996 & on the first state championship team in school history. Owen would go on to play college football at Pittsburg State.
