Wednesday, October 19, is School Transportation Appreciation Day in Kansas.
School transportation personnel are responsible for the most precious cargo in USD 231 - our children. They perform outstanding service to the families in our district who depend on school transportation while traveling to and from school and school activities, and they realize the responsibility they assume each time they sit in the driver's seat of a school vehicle.
School Transportation Appreciation Day falls within National School Bus Safety Week, which is October 17 through October 21. National School Bus Safety Week takes place the third full week of October each year. It is designated to promote school bus safety.
