Program Description
The vision of Gardner Edgerton School District is to ‘Empower all students to meet the challenges of the future’. To encourage and recognize the efforts necessary to accomplish this work, USD 231 has established the GESD (Great Employees Serving the District) recognition program. This program has been developed to acknowledge certified and classified employees who consistently demonstrate the ability to connect with students, have a unique teaching style, or are always available to serve their school, students, fellow employees or the community at large.

Who can be nominated?
Nominees can be any certified or classified employee in the Gardner Edgerton School District who exemplifies traits of outstanding customer service and is a positive influence on students, parents, co-workers or members of the community.

Who can nominate an employee?
Anyone. Students, staff, parents, community members or anyone else who is seeking a way to recognize an employee for exceptional work.

How can I nominate someone?
A GESD recognition link can be found HERE or the Gardner Edgerton School District website that allows anyone in the community to nominate an employee. The directions on how to nominate an employee are clearly outlined on the form. All nominations must include information on how the employee provided outstanding service and how his/her actions contributed to the overall vision of the Gardner Edgerton School District. The nominator must provide his/her name and contact information.

How are winners selected announced?
Members of the Educational Services Department will select a weekly winner. This group will review the nominations and select an employee who demonstrates exemplary characteristics, furthering the vision of the district.

What is the process for honoring a GESD winner?
After a GESD winner is selected, the Community Relations Department will notify the winner.

Each GESD winner will be recognized on Friday’s throughout the school year and during the corresponding monthly Board of Education meeting.

Each GESD winner will receive a certificate recognizing his/her dedication in going above and beyond to serve the stakeholders of the Gardner Edgerton School District. The  winner will also receive recognition on the USD 231 website, in the district’s quarterly publication (The Horizon), and social media outlets.
