Moonlight Elementary third graders brought their economics lessons to life through their annual Starville activity. Students have been studying important economic concepts such as opportunity cost, scarcity and abundance, how economic decisions are made, and how work creates income. Starville provides a hands-on way for students to apply what they have learned in a fun, interactive environment.

During Starville, classrooms transformed into a mini-city where students used play money to shop and work at a variety of jobs. Businesses such as a restaurant, photography studio, gift shop, bank, and nail salon allowed students to experience both earning and spending money while making real-time decisions about how to manage their resources. Starville was a bustling marketplace and gave the students a memorable way to experience how money, work, and decision-making connect in the real world.
