Families filled the halls at Nike Elementary as the school hosted its annual STREAM Night. STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) came to life through interactive activities led by staff and community partners. One of the evening’s highlights was the student art “Glow Show,” where each grade level created space-themed crafts displayed under blacklights in a student-led glow room.

Students and families had the opportunity to participate in experiments and activities throughout the building. Community partners, including Mad Science, hosted “make and take” experiments, while the Fire Department brought a fire engine for students to explore. Teachers created engaging stations featuring activities such as flight simulations, card games, and calming sensory bottle projects. The evening began with a “Soft Start” at 5:00 pm, offering a sensory-friendly environment for students who benefit from a quieter, calmer setting.

This exciting event brought families together to explore, learn, and celebrate the many ways STREAM connects to everyday learning. Second-grade teacher, Dr. Selena Riddell, said, “Whether we were coding, reading, or engineering, the energy was electric!”
