The USD 231 Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Brian Huff has been named the next superintendent of the Gardner Edgerton School District. Dr. Huff shared,  "I am very excited to be a part of the Gardner Edgerton family. The communities of Gardner and Edgerton have a rich tradition and the small-town feel that my family enjoys. The school district is a leader and innovator in education and is a remarkably good fit for my family and me. I am looking forward to what we will all do together as we continue to show Johnson County and Kansas what outstanding education looks like."

Dr. Huff comes highly recommended by his colleagues and the parents and communities in which he has been involved. Every district in which Brian has served witnessed meaningful and sustained improvement. Dr. Huff has repeatedly demonstrated that his number one priority is student success and post-high school readiness. Dr. Huff has over 29 years of experience in education. He started teaching middle school math and science for four years. Since this time, Dr. Huff has spent 25 years in school administration as an assistant principal, building and district activities director, lead principal, assistant superintendent, and associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction.

Mrs. Lana Sutton, Board President, shared, "The USD 231 Board of Education is excited to welcome Dr. Huff to our school district. Brian participated in an exhaustive search process and demonstrated he was the best candidate to the interview committees and school board. We have complete confidence that Dr. Huff will be a great asset to the district and will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to improve our district in the future."

Mr. Tom Reddin, Board Vice President, shared, "I have every confidence that Dr. Huff will be a collaborative leader who will always look to include students, staff, and families – along with the larger community – in his decision making. What most impressed the Board during Dr. Huff’s interview was him asking the seven of us if we were willing to take the walk (to improvement) with him. Unanimously, the Board shared, we are very excited to walk with him as we move the district forward."

The current Interim Superintendent, Dr. James Sutton, will remain in his role until June 30, 2022. The USD 231 Board of Education would like to thank Dr. Sutton for his hard work, dedication, and expertise during this transition. Dr. Sutton has done a fantastic job addressing urgent needs and preparing the district for next school year. We are confident that Dr. Sutton and Dr. Huff will work together to ensure a smooth transition for our district.
