As a result of this season's inclement weather and our responsibility to meet the state of Kansas' requirements for hours completed during the school year, several adjustments to the school calendar have been made. One of the changes involves our original date for Kindergarten Rodeo, April 22. April 22 is now a student contact day so as a result we are moving our Kindergarten Rodeo to Friday, April 19. We will have three 30-minute sessions (8:45-9:15, 9:30-10:00, and 10:15-10:45). Please call the Madison Office at 856-0400 to schedule your rodeo time.
As a result of this season's inclement weather and our responsibility to meet the state of Kansas' requirements for hours completed during the school year, the following adjustments to our calendar are necessary (pending no additional inclement weather days): April 22 - Full day of school (originally no school as a result of professional development) May 22 - Full day of school (originally a 1/2 day of school) May 23 - Full day of school (originally no school if there was no inclement weather). Last day of school for Kindergarten and 8th grade students. May 24 - 1/2 day of school (originally no school if there was no inclement weather). On May 24, lunch will be served. Dismissal times are as follows: Grades 1-4 - 12:30 pm. Grades 5-11 - 12:00 pm. Grades K, 8, 12 - No school. Please know that your Dr. Wachel will be in touch with additional details related to finals schedule, award ceremonies, end-of-year activities, field trips, etc. GEHS graduation will remain on May 18, 2019. If your child is going to be absent on any of the days listed above due to an already planned activity, please work with Dr. Wachel to make arrangements. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Are you looking to take a break from cooking and support Madison Elementary? Join us for the next monthly spirit night at a local restaurant. Wednesday, March 20 is Madison Spirit Night at Panera in Olathe from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A portion of all sales will be given back to Madison. This money will be put into an account to allow us to purchase books at our Buy One Get One Book Fair in the spring to purchase birthday books for all of our Bears! Be sure to bring in the flyer or show the electronic version, tell them you are from Madison when you order, and thank you for supporting Panera and Madison Elementary.
Are you looking for something to do on the ice day? Why not get started on March's Kindness Challenge - Making Kindmarks. This month, our kindness challenge is to leave some “kind”marks in our library. We challenge you to make a bookmark with a kindness theme. Use pictures and words to remind others to choose kind everyday. Our Counselor Crew and Book Worm student council students will hide the bookmarks in books throughout our Madison Library. When you find one, you can keep it, or leave it in the book to keep spreading kindness. #choosekindness
