Superintendent

Pam Stranathan holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Fort Hays State University and a Master’s in Education from Texas Women’s University. She holds a Principal Licenser from Adams State University in Colorado and a District Level Licenser from Pittsburg State University. In addition, Stranathan holds a Kansas License in Professional District Leadership PK-12, Professional Building Leadership PK-12, Professional Elementary K-9, Professional Physical Education K-12, Health 5-9.

Stranathan began her career in education at Fort Hays State University as an Assistant Instructor and Graduate Student in the Kinesiology Department in 1987. In 1988, she relocated to Texas where she taught history and science at a National Blue Ribbon school with an enrollment of 1,450. In addition to her academic duties, Stranathan also coached and held the position of Woman’s Athletic Director.

In 2001, Stranathan accepted a position in Rifle, Colorado as a science teacher, but quickly moved into several administrative positions; School Academic Coach, District Level Curriculum Facilitator, and Middle School Principal (Meeker, CO).

Stranathan relocated to Gardner, Kansas in 2008 accepting the position of Assistant Principal at Gardner Edgerton High School. After one year, she was promoted to the District Office as an Assistant Director of Secondary Education. Stranathan was promoted in 2010 as the Director of Educational Services for Secondary Education overseeing secondary education curriculum, the district crisis team, school resource officers, secondary budgetary planning, assessment coordination, professional development, and curriculum requirement compliancy. Stranathan held this position until she was appointed Interim Superintendent in February 2014. She became Superintendent in February 2015.

During Stranathan’s academic career, she has presented professionally at state and national conferences and professional development meetings on a variety of topics including Common Core, Cyber Bullying, Special Education Modification, Benchmark Testing, Positive Behavior Modification, New Environmental Interdisciplinary Units, Crisis Communication, Gang Identification, Grant Writing, Cooperative Learning, Classroom Management and Technology-Based Classrooms.
