CONGRATULATIONS to Ryder Hougland, a third-grade student at Nike Elementary, for being nominated AND selected as this week's Gardner Edgerton Student of Distinction award winner! Ryder is being recognized as a result of outstanding achievement and demonstrating exemplary attitude, effort and participation in a school or community-based service. Based on the nomination description below, it is obvious that Ryder exemplifies outstanding character traits and serves as a positive influence on peers and the community-at-large.
Specifically, "Ryder struggles in school and I am very proud of all the effort he puts in to keep up. He is kind to his peers. As an example, a few weeks ago, Ryder brought home a stuffed animal that a child on the bus was sad about because it had ripped. Ryder brought the stuffed animal home for his mother to sew/repair and delivered it to him the next morning. What kid does that!? I was proud that he wanted to help out a friend in distress."
