In honor of Veteran's Day, students at Nike Elementary learned about the history of the Nike Missile Base, active in the mid-to-late 1960s. Jack Reis (pronounced Rice), Battery Commander C/5/55, with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), was stationed at the Nike Missile Site KC-60 from 1967-1969. Commander Rice shared his responsibilities while serving (at age 24) on the base.
