GEHS's very own Kaden Armstrong (senior) competed in the Prostart Competition via video. Kaden competed against culinarians from all across the state. Kaden took third place in appetizers and desserts and FIRST PLACE IN THE ENTREE CATEGORY!!!!!

Part of the competition involves creating a book that details the costs of recipes to the penny, writing about the historical, cultural, and personal influence with each dish, plating design and color, photography, and finally....taste. And...it's timed!

This competition is much more difficult than what you might see on TV. Kaden spent months developing the recipes and weeks on the paperwork. No one was allowed in the room with him as he recorded. It was difficult and grueling but Kaden performed amazingly!

For his accomplishment, Kaden won $500 in gift cards and prizes and received a scholarship to Johnson and Wales University ( the Harvard of Culinary Schools).
