GEHS Students Earn Honors at the KSHSAA Choir Solo and Ensemble Festival

Seven GEHS Choir students and the Madrigal Ensemble recently participated in the very first virtual State Solo and Ensemble Festival. In three weeks, these students not only learned very challenging pieces, but they also performed them musically with energy and enthusiasm - while wearing masks!

In a typical year, Madrigals perform with 24 students, but due to the pandemic, the choir only included 10 singers. Instead of letting that bring them down, the singers dug deep and earned an "Excellent" rating!

The following students should be recognized and congratulated:

Madrigals include Elaine Jensen, Eden Hall, Annie Kuzma, Cati Bowman, Jessica Souvannakhot, Izi May, Julian Layne, Grant Misse, Liam Strahan and Donald Chambers (from L to R in picture below).

The following students performed solos (L to R in second picture below):

  • Charlie McGill- Excellent Rating
  • Riley Pembleton- Superior Rating (one point away from a perfect score!)
  • Grant Misse- Superior Rating
  • Elaine Jensen- Superior Rating
  • Samantha Scoggins- Superior Rating
  • Jessica Souvannakhot- Superior Rating
  • Annie Kuzma- Superior Rating
