Veterans Day Observance

Annually, USD 231 and more specifically, GEHS, host a ceremony to honor Veterans on Veterans Day. As that won't be possible this year, we encourage you to view the Observance being provided by Johnson County Government.

Johnson County Government invites all veterans and their families to participate in the 34th annual Veterans Day celebration. While this event honors all veterans, with this year marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, the county will include special recognition for veterans of that war.

Because of COVID-19, this year’s event will be available online and on Facebook. The ceremony will include a mixture of live and previously recorded presentations:

-Speeches honoring veterans
-Patriotic music and songs
-Presentation of the colors
-Placement of memorial wreaths by local veterans organizations
-Playing of “Taps” and a rifle salute

The event can be viewed HERE at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2020.
