November 9, 2020

Thank you for expressing interest in speaking at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. With the current rise in COVID-19 infection rate in both the county and state, adjustments have been made to the public comment section of tonight's Board of Education meeting. This is being done to ensure everyone’s safety. The following protocols will be in place and followed:

  • The Board of Education meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.

  • DO NOT enter the building. Please wait in your vehicle in the SOUTH parking lot until you receive a phone call to the number you provided on your Intent to Address the Board card.

  • Once called, you will have two minutes to be present at the back (South) entrance, at which time you will be screened (temperature check);

  • Masks are required at all times. Mask must be worn when addressing the Board of Education;

  • If speakers are not present within two minutes from when called, the next speaker will be called. Speakers who do not respond to the call within two minutes will need to request to speak at the next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting. This is to allow the business of the board to continue in a timely manner.

  • Speakers will be allowed to address the Board of Education for three minutes. A timer will be on the screen for your reference.

  • Each speaker will be responsible for cleaning the podium prior to speaking with provided wipes.

Lastly, if you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, you should not attend the meeting:

  • Temperature > 100.0

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

Should you have any questions prior to the meeting, please contact Deb Starling, (913) 856-2000.

Thank you.

The November 9, 2020 Board of Education meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Board of Education in rooms AB&C.

This meeting will be live-streamed as well. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, board members, administration, and a GENEA representative will be sitting at a minimum 6-foot distance inside the meeting room.

The board room will accommodate a speaker if any wish to address the board. There will be 9 chairs that will be socially distanced in the lobby and the public are welcome to utilize. The lobby will also have a television so the meeting can be viewed. If more than nine people are in attendance, overflow attendees will need to wait in their cars until called to speak or space in the lobby becomes available.

If a member of the public wishes to address the board, they must contact Deb Starling, USD 231 Board Clerk, PRIOR to the meeting and no later than 12:00pm on November 9. Deb will then follow up with details related to this process.

Every person (BOE member, Administration, Public) is required to wear a mask and your temperature will be taken before entering the building.

Should Johnson County Health and Environment change the number of people who can safely attend the meeting, we will host the meeting virtually.
