Principal’s ME-ssage

Our third and fourth graders have completed all required state assessments in the areas of reading, math, and science! Once again our students performed extraordinarily well with the majority of students meeting the state standard or above.   I am extremely proud of our students’ and staff’s commitment to excellence as it continues to shine through year after year.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you have not received your child’s state assessment results (for 3rd and 4th only) already.  Students demonstrating effort when taking state assessments will celebrate by taking a field trip to visit Sporting KC Soccer Stadium in Kansas City, Kansas next week.  This trip is the culminating activity for our soccer themed assessment season.

As we begin to wind down our school year I strongly encourage you to check to ensure that you know your Family Access user name and password as it will be needed to enroll your child for school this summer.  If none of this makes sense to you please call the Moonlight office as soon as possible as our office will be closed much of the summer when you will be enrolling your child online for the coming school year.

I would like to recognize our Moonlight Watchdogs who have volunteered during the past month:  Austin Berry, Matt Heiser, Ben Stears, Scott Krouch, Toby Orth, and Chris Foster–Thank you guys!  Watchdogs are dads, stepdads, adult age brothers, uncles, and father figures who assist in keeping the school safe as well as supporting student learning.  They spend time in their child’s classroom, specials class, recess, but also in other classrooms impacting those who may not have a positive male role model in their life.  We could definitely use some additional Watchdogs to assist with Field Day on May 20th!  If you would like to make a difference by serving as a Watchdog please contact Amy Stevens, our Watchdog coordinator, at amyrstevens@hotmail.com or by phoning 913-206-2730.
