Novel Navigators Hold a Fierce Competition
Third and fourth grade students signed up for Novel Navigators back in September. Since then, students and coaches have been furiously reading and discussing to prepare for February’s competition against other teams. Students read a total of seven novels over the course of five months, which that is something to be very proud of.
Then it was competition time!
Students worked together during the multiple choice and written rounds to answer questions about all of the books they had read since September! It was a real stretch of the minds to remember all of those details! But the real work came during the lightning round when students had to be on their toes to answer questions as quickly as they could, with no team members to rely on! The ten third grade teams battled it out on Monday, February 4 ending with a tie for first place. The five fourth grade teams had their own chance to compete on Tuesday, February 5 and because of their awesome answers, all teams placed! It has been an exciting year of Novel Navigators and although we are sad to see it end, we are excited about the chance to participate next year!
Thanks to all of the parents and coaches for supporting this exciting program!
