How many students attend Gardner Edgerton High School?

The 2011-2012 enrollment at GEHS included 1,347 students.  GEHS has a program capactity to house 1,600 students.

How many students are in my graduating class?

The Senior Class of 2012 includes 257 students.  However, class sizes are increasing.  This year's incoming Freshman class (the class of 2015) includes 362 students.

Is the district going to build a second high school?

The district has no plans to build a second high school at this time. However, as student enrollment at GEHS increases and the building approaches its program capacity (1,600 students), the district will need to consider the optoins.  The district will keep the community informed when enrollment numbers warrant planning for expansion or a second high school.

What kinds of extra-curricular activities are offered at GEHS?

GEHS students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of academic competitions, community service projects, activities, clubs and sports, which support varying student interests.  Click on the Activities & Athletic tab to learn more.

Where is Graduation held?

Graduation takes place at the District Activities Complex, immediately adjacent (west) of GEHS.  Seniors walk from the high school into the stadium, where they are seated on the field. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony would be held in the school gymnasium. The Graduation ceremony for the class of 2012 will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

How do I report my child absent or provide permission for my child to leave school for an appointment?

Call Becky Pyle in the Attendance Center at 856-2610. If your child is leaving school early for an appointment, he or she should stop by the Attendance Center window to pick up a dismissal slip.

How can I check my child's absence records?

Sign up for Family Access, our web-based student monitoring program.  To arrange for your free account, visit the school office and present a photo ID.

How do I contact the cafeteria to place money on my child's account, or with questions?

Please call 856-2621. The cafeteria accepts Visa, MC and Discover for payment on student accounts over the phone.  You may also send cash or check with your child.  Note:  Please do not send your credit card to school with your child.
