Gardner Edgerton USD 231 recognizes that there are students who need non-traditional learning environments in order to succeed. The Alternative Attendance Center (AAC) is an extension of Gardner Edgerton High School. The AAC is housed on the Nike Campus. Students are responsible for their own transportation. Participants must adhere to set rules and attendance policies. Students must apply for enrollment into the program. An application packet is available at the GEHS office.
Instruction is both individualized and computer assisted. A work-study component is also available. Students have a choice of diplomas--the traditional GEHS diploma or the Basic Diploma. If a student wishes to obtain a Basic Diploma, he/she will NOT be eligible for Qualified Admissions or the Kansas Scholar's Curriculum. The Basic Diploma meets the state graduation requirements of 21 credits and is an option only for those students accepted to the AAC.
Night School: This program is open to students 18 or older, or those in their fifth year of high school participation. Students pay by the session and not by the individual course. Current AAC curriculum is used at the night school. Night school is held Monday - Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. For more information about the Night School, please contact lead teacher Michael Beyer at 856-2660 or beyerm@usd231.com.
