The Kansas State Assessments

Each year, students in all public school districts across the state take the Kansas Assessments.  These annual tests are given in the spring, usually between late February and early May.  Official Kansas Assessment results are provided to the school district in the fall of the following school year. 

The Kansas State Assesssments are administered as follows:

  • Kansas Math Assessment: Grades 3-8 and one grade in high school (every year)
  • Kansas Reading Assessment:  Grades 3-8 and one grade in high school (every year)
  • Kansas Science Assessment:  Grades 4, 7 and one grade in high school (every year)
  • Kansas History/Government Assessment:  Grades 6, 8 and one grade in high school (every other year)
  • Kansas Writing Assessment:  Grades 6, 8 and one grade in high school (every other year)
